The Mysuru unit chief of Samata Adhyana Kendra (SAK), Prof Sabiha Bhoomigowda, on Monday stressed the need to study the role of gender politics in India to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women in the society.

Bhoomigowda was speaking at an interaction with women achievers organised to mark the International Women's Day jointly by the Government Institute of  Education and SAK at Vasanthamahal in the city.

She said SAK has strived to garner public support for women-centric issues. It also encourages budding writers and poets in memory of late Kannada writer Vijaya Dhabbe to develop gender sensitivity among people as well as strengthen the feminist movement. The organisation has also worked for making the society free of gender discrimination, she said.
