BIDAR, 6 MARCH
A
non-clinical supervisor at BRIMS Hospital is facing serious allegations of
sexual harassment following a complaint lodged by female staff members with the
Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Dr. Nagalakshmi Chaudhary.
During her
visit to BRIMS, Lakshmi, a Group 'D' employee with over ten years of service,
approached Dr. Chaudhary in distress, pleading for justice. "Give me
justice, or I will end my life right here," she cried, revealing that she
has been harassed by supervisor Prakash Malge for the past year. Lakshmi
alleged that Malge has threatened her, demanding she comply with his demands or
face repercussions, and has even been marking her attendance as absent.
Despite her
efforts to seek assistance from local law enforcement and hospital authorities,
including the District Superintendent of Police and the BRIMS director, she
reports no action has been taken against Malge.
Dr.
Chaudhary consoled Lakshmi, assuring her that an investigation would be
initiated and proper steps taken. "Stay strong," she encouraged.
Later, she addressed the media, committing to gather detailed information and direct appropriate actions by relevant authorities. Dr. Chaudhary also noted that while cleanliness improvements have been made at BRIMS since her last visit, issues such as the theft of solar panels remain a concern. She inspected various areas within the hospital accompanied by local officials including Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivakumar Sheelavant and BRIMS Director Dr Shivakumar Shetkar.
