Mysuru, 5 March

Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police BT Kavitha has suspended three police personnel, including a sub-inspector, in connection with a murder case.

Yelandur SI Hanumantha Uppar, ASI Hoovaiah and Head Constable Ilyas Pasha have been suspended for dereliction of duty. They failed to record the statement of an injured person admitted to hospital in a medico legal case and also did not register a case in the police station.

Mahesh and his younger brother Nagaiah, both residents of Irasawadi village in Yelandur taluk of Chamarajanagar district, reportedly had a fight on 1 March over a dispute about property sharing. Nagaiah, severely injured, was admitted to Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital, but died on Monday while being shifted to hospital at Mysuru.

The village falls under the jurisdiction of Yelandur police station.

Kavitha told Salar News that the police personnel were suspended “for not registering a complaint even after receiving the information about a medico legal case admitted to CIMS hospital, which is in their police station limits. They also failed to record the statement of the injured person admitted to the hospital.”
