Leopard rescued from Mysuru RBI unit premises

After the big cat was spotted, forest department officials placed a cattle pen and four cages

A four-year-old leopard walked straight into a cattle pen trap set up on the premises of the Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL), the RBI's currency note printing press, in North Mysuru early on Friday.

After the big cat was spotted on campus in Metagalli in the city, the forest department officials placed a cattle pen and four cages at strategic locations on the premises.

After it received a complaint from the BRBNMPL management 20 days ago, the department had deputed more than 30 staffers, including a leopard task force, on the operation.

The forest department team, which rescued the wild cat, released it into the forest, said chief conservator of forests, Mysuru circle.
