MYSURU, 22 FEB
Ayub Khan, chairman of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority
(KEA), expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for allocating Rs 20
crore for the enhancement of facilities at the Mysuru Dasara Exhibition
grounds. Khan made the announcement during a press conference at his office on
Saturday.
The funding will support the construction of a wooden
replica of the Belur-Halebidu temple, as well as the installation of musical
fountains, which is expected to cost Rs 10 crore. The remaining funds will be
used for completing ongoing projects, upgrading the underground drainage
system, improving parking facilities, and adding more stalls to the existing
154.
Khan assured that all ongoing projects will be finalised
before the commencement of this year's Dasara celebrations. He also noted that
the Chief Minister has instructed KEA to organise exhibitions in Shivamogga,
Ballari, Belagavi, and Hubballi. Consequently, KEA will engage with the
district deputy commissioners to make necessary preparations for these events.
Additionally, Khan highlighted plans to conduct events year-round at the Dasara exhibition grounds to ensure profitability and attract visitors consistently. He informed attendees that KEA collected a rental fee of ₹5.5 lakh from Kannada actor Dolly Dhananjaya for hosting his wedding ceremony at the KEA premises last week, underscoring the venue's versatility for various events.
