In a shocking incident, a 36-year-old woman was allegedly
gangraped by four people on the terrace of a private hotel building near Jyothi
Nivas junction in Koramangala during the early hours of Friday.
According to sources, the victim, a married woman, works in a catering service
serving food at events. During one such event on Thursday, she had met the
prime suspect who befriended her following a brief conversation.
The victim met the prime suspect during an event on
Thursday. Around 1.30 am, while walking near the junction, she was invited by
the suspect for dinner. As the nearby eatery was closed, he took her to the
terrace where three others were present. After dinner, the four allegedly
gang-raped her, robbed her mobile phone and purse, and threatened her to remain
silent.
The police swiftly launched an investigation and nabbed
three suspects, Shivu, Ajith and Vishwas, all hailing from Uttar Pradesh and
all in their mid-twenties. A search is on to nab the fourth suspect who has been
identified by the police.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru East, Ramesh Banoth, told Salar News
that the suspects have confessed to the crime.
This incident follows a series of sexual assault cases in Bengaluru, including the rape and murder of a Bangladeshi woman earlier this month, and the arrest of a labourer under POCSO for assaulting a six-year-old girl in January.
