A group of farmers in Kalaburagi, who were protesting
against the Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) against the supply of
power to the farms at 4am, on Thursday gave the officials a taste of the danger
what awaits them in the fields at such odd hours. They brought to the office a
crocodile tied to a bullock cart.
A farmer named Lakshman Pujari in Gobbur B village of
Afzalpur taluk had spotted the crocodile in his field when he went to release
water for his wheat crop at around 4am on Thursday.
The farmers were protesting against the timing of the
power supply, which currently begins at 4am, which force them to work in fear.
They demanded that the supply time be shifted to 6am.
Sub Inspector Rahul Pawade from the Deval Gangapur police station intervened and convinced the farmers to handover the crocodile to the Forest Department officials for safe release.
