Contractor suicide: Five accused granted bail

BIDAR, 6 FEB

The Kalburgi District and Sessions Court has granted conditional bail to five persons, including Raju Kapanur, the main accused in the case related to young contractor Sachin Panchal’s suicide by jumping in front of a train in Bidar on 26 December. 

Kapanur, a close aide of minister Priyank Kharge, received the bail on his birthday.

The four others who were granted conditional bail on Wednesday are Nandakumar Nagabhujange, Gorakhnath, Satish and Ramanagara Gowda. They were expected to be released from jail on Thursday.

The conditions for the bail are: If the applicant has weapons, they should be handed over to the Kalaburgi District Superintendent of Police. They should not try to destroy evidence but cooperate with the investigation. They should not enter Bidar district for any reason except when specifically summoned by the investigating officer or to appear before the court after the investigation is completed.

The court said that these conditions will apply till the conclusion of the final hearing.

Panchal had left a death note before taking his own life.
