The Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar and her brother MLC Channaraj Hattiholi were involved in a serious accident on Tuesday morning when the car they were travelling in dashed against a tree near Ambadagatti village in Kittur Taluk of Belagavi Taluk.

The incident occurred around 6 am when the vehicle in which they were traveling from Bengaluru to Belagavi, swerved to avoid a dog crossing the road. The driver lost control, and the car crashed into a tree.

 Hebbalkar, and her brother Hattiholi, who were sitting in the passenger seats received serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Belagavi where they are being treated. Eyewitnesses report that the car's front portion was extensively damaged in the crash.
