Dalit youth beaten to death over affair with upper-caste girl in Bidar

A 19-year-old Dalit youth succumbed to injuries sustained in an alleged attack
over his relationship with an upper-caste girl at Rakshiya village in
Kamalanagar taluk of Bidar district. Police have taken the girl’s father and
brother into custody.
Sumith, a BSc student from
Bedakunda village, was in a relationship with a girl from Rakshyal village. The
girl called Sumith to her house on 5 January. Upon his arrival, he was
allegedly assaulted by her father, Kishanrao, her brother, Rahul, and other
relatives, according to sources. The attack continued after Sumith left the
house, with Rahul and his friends targeting him again.
The assailants later contacted
Sumith’s family, instructing them to take him. Sumith’s father and uncle found
him severely injured. They took him to the government hospital in Thana
Kushnoor and subsequently shifted him to a hospital in Latur district,
Maharashtra, for advanced treatment. Despite the medical care provided, Sumith
succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
An FIR was registered against Rahul
and Kishanrao under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, at Kushnoor
police station. Sumith's parents staged a protest outside the hospital,
demanding action against the accused. -Salar News
