Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has clarified that he does not see the need to rename a stretch of the KRS Road as "Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga," given that it is already named after Princess. Responding to a reporter’s question during a private visit to Mysuru Airport, he expressed limited knowledge about the matter.
The proposal to rename the historic KRS Road has sparked significant controversy after the Mysuru City Corporation issued a public notice on 13 December, inviting citizens to submit their opinions within 30 days. Several universities have approached Siddaramaiah with offers of honorary doctorates, but he has consistently declined, asserting that he does not consider himself deserving of such accolades.
The renaming proposal has drawn sharp criticism from the Janata Dal (Secular), who branded the move as "condemnable." They accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of exploiting appointed officials, in the absence of an elected council, to advance the renaming agenda within the Mysuru City Corporation.
