Kannada Sahithya Sammelana begins in Mandya

87th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahithya Sammelana kicked off with a procession featuring over 210 cultural troupes, including six from other states, with more than 2,500 artists taking part in them

MYSURU, 20 DEC

The 87th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahithya Sammelana kicked off with a vibrant procession from near the district commissioner’s office to the main venue at Srinivasapura.

 

The procession featured over 210 cultural troupes, including six from other states, with more than 2,500 artists taking part in them.

 

The Mysuru Police band with 30 members participated for the first time in Kananda sammelan. Nandidwaja, Veeragase, Nadaswaram, Puja Kunitha, Halakki Suggi Kunitha, Woman Veeragase, Keelu Kudure, Pata Kunitha were key attractions of the procession.               

 

Thousands of people, not only from Karnataka but also from other states and foreign countries, gathered to participate in the procession that covered six kilometres to reach the venue.

 

Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji inaugurated the procession after greeting Sammelana President Go Ru Channabasappa in absence of Mysuru Royal Family matriarch Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, who was supposed to inaugurate the procession. 

 

The procession, which was scheduled to begin at 7am was delayed by about 90 minutes. -Salar News
