Bengaluru, 26 Nov

NR Ramesh, President of the Karnataka Anti-Corruption Forum and a senior BJP leader, filed a formal complaint with Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleging a misuse of Rs 46,300 crore in  Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) released over the past decade for road development in Bengaluru.

In his complaint, Ramesh accused nine individuals, including serving and retired IAS officers as well as contractors.

“Between 2013 and 2023-24, a Rs 46,300 crore was allocated for road development works across 198 wards in Bengaluru. However, despite such substantial funding, the condition of roads in the city remains deplorable. Over 25,000 potholes are reported on the arterial roads alone,” Ramesh claimed in his complaint.

Ramesh further alleged that the funds intended for vital infrastructure projects were siphoned off by the accused, resulting in the failure to improve Bengaluru's road network. He called for a thorough investigation by the ED into the matter to ensure accountability and prevent further misuse of public funds. -Salar News
