Bengaluru, 30 Oct

Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy said on Wednesday that the allegations of land grab by Waqf board have already been clarified by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and that the government has given instructions to withdraw notices.

He further alleged that some of the notices were given during BJP's rule in the state too. Earlier today, Siddaramaiah "I have already made a statement. We have not issued any notice to the farmers and we are not going to evict anybody who has been in possession of the property for many years."

Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar accused BJP of "politicising the issue," and that directions have already been given to the revenue department concerning the notices.

State Home Minister G Parmeshwara also stated that the department responsible for waqf properties may have issued notices, adding that the issue is almost over.

Zameer Ahmed Khan also alleged that BJP was unnecessarily raking up the issue for the sake of politics, with an eye on the upcoming Assembly by-polls and elections in neighbouring Maharashtra.  -ANI/ PTI
