State Backward Classes Awareness Forum Chief and a staunch supporter of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KS Shivaramu, on Wednesday said that a black flag demonstration would be held against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot if he attends the Dasara Torchlight Parade at Bannimantap during the conclusion of the nine-day Dasara festivities on 12 October.

Speaking at a press conference, Shivaramu accused the Governor of attempting to destabilise the government by misusing his constitutional powers. He also warned of  a postcard campaign urging the President of India to take action against Gehlot. The postcards, which will be posted from Ramaswamy Circle, will accuse Gehlot of acting as a political agent of the BJP-JD(S) alliance under the influence of the central government, rather than fulfilling his constitutional duties.

Shivaramu also criticised Gehlot for granting permission to prosecute Siddaramaiah in connection with alleged irregularities involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). He noted that similar prosecution requests by the Lokayukta against BJP and JD(S) leaders, including Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Shashikala Jolle, remain pending.Convener of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS), Devagalli Somashekhar urged the Siddaramaiah-led government to release the findings of the caste census without succumbing to political pressure, including from upper-caste groups. He further said that presenting the caste census in the Assembly is crucial to ensuring that all castes receive benefits based on their population. -Salar News
