Special
Investigation Team (SIT) probing allegations against BJP MLA N Munirathna Naidu
conducted raids at his residence in Vyalikaval and 15 locations across the City
on Saturday. The SIT, operating under Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
and led by ACP Kavitha, is investigating charges that include rape, honey
trapping, and other offences.
Sources
close to the investigation revealed that officials examined documents,
electronic devices, and various materials related to the allegations. This
operation follows claims by one of the alleged victims, who accused Munirathna
of videotaping the crimes and using the footage to blackmail not only her but
also politicians and high-ranking IAS and IPS officials.
The victim
alleged that Munirathna threatened her with harm to her son if she refused to
comply with his demands. She said that the MLA had a dedicated team to carry
out honey-trapping operations and she provided the officials with information
about his close associates and relatives who were part of this network.
It was
reported that a large number of documents and several electronic devices were
seized from the MLA's residence. -Salar News
