Bengaluru, 27 Sept

Lokayukta Special Investigation Team (SIT) has formally requested permission to interrogate officials at the Raj Bhavan following the alleged leak of a confidential.

IGP M Chandrashekar of the Lokayukta SIT sent a letter to DGP Alok Mohan. The sources said the information of the confidential file of the Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy sent to the Governor's office was leaked.

The alleged leak prompted Governor Thawarchand Gehlot to seek a report on 20 August. Following the investigation, a report was submitted to the Governor’s office that there was no information leak from the side of Lokayukta and the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The confidential file in question was submitted to the Raj Bhavan on 8 March.
According to the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Governor is mandated to address such files within a four-month period. This request for interrogation comes on the heels of a Karnataka Cabinet decision to cease direct information sharing with the Governor's office and to revoke the general consent previously granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to operate in the State.

State Law Minister HK Patil criticized the Governor's "intolerant manner" of communication, asserting that the Governor has been demanding immediate responses from the government. In light of this, the Cabinet has instructed the Chief Secretary to refrain from providing information directly to the Governor. -Salar News
