Karnataka Postal Circle Olympic releases special postcards

Karnataka Postal
Circle has unveiled a set of commemorative postcards featuring Indian medal
winners in a tribute to India's sporting excellence at Paris Olympics 2024.
The launch of the
postcards, which was part of 'Har Ghar Tiranga 2024' campaign, took place at
Sandesha Museum of Communication on Museum Road here on Monday. The
celebrations began with a heritage walk at 9am, starting from Mail Motor
Service building in Vasanthnagar, according to a statement by Karnataka Postal
Circle. Organised to coincide with Independence Day, the walk, which also
covered landmarks such as Beaulieu at Palace Road and Bengaluru General Post
Office, concluded at Sandesha Museum.
Speaking to Salar
News, Dr S Rajendra Kumar, Chief Post Master General of Karnataka Circle, said,
“In our country, we do not give as much importance to sports as we do to
academics. This initiative reflects our commitment to celebrating and honouring
India's sporting prowess and achievements despite all the hardships in that
field.”
The ceremony was
also attended by Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa, an Indian heptathlete who represented
India in 2000 and 2008 Summer Olympics. The postcards are available for
purchase at Bengaluru General Post Office, as well as at the head post offices
in Belagavi, Mangaluru and Mysuru. Sandesha Museum will also host a philatelic
exhibition showcasing Olympic-themed stamps until 31 August. This exhibition,
which will also have collections of by philatelist Jaganath Mani and President
of Philatelic Society of India Col Akil Kumar, is open to visitors from 9.30am
to 5pm daily. —Salar News
