BENGALURU, 22 JULY

The State government has announced a Cauvery Aarti programme which will be held in the KRS reservoir similar to the famous Ganga Aarti in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

This initiative aims to celebrate and honour the river, reflecting the cultural and spiritual heritage of Karnataka. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, “The government is set for the Cauvery Aarti programme as I have instructed the Religious Endowment Department and the Cauvery Neeravari Nigama will jointly conduct the programme.”

During his visit to the KRS reservoir in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district, he said a team of 25 experts would design and organise the event. The programme will commence once the team provides its report.

“With the grace of the rain god and the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari, it is now time to offer 'Bagina' to the Cauvery River as a traditional offering made when the reservoir reaches its full capacity.”

In addition to the Aarti, the Deputy Chief Minister announced plans to develop the Cauvery Brindavan Amusement Park. He assured that the development would not displace any residents. Shivakumar said, “This proposal will come up before the Cabinet in a couple of days. This project will create 8,000-10,000 jobs for the locals. We will arrange for people to stay in the amusement park itself.” -Salar News
