3 of family killed in roof collapse in Haveri
Meanwhile, search operations are continuing in Shirur village in Uttara Kannada to trace three people, including a lorry driver from Kerala, who are missing after a massive landslide

Haveri, 19 July
Three members of a
family, including two kids, were killed and three others injured after roof of
their house collapsed following heavy rains at Madapura village in Savanur
taluk on Friday morning. The deceased were Chennamma, 38, and two-year-old twin
sisters -- Anushree and Amulya.
According to
police, Muttappa Harakuni, 35, his wife Sunita, 30, and mother Yallamma, 70,
the twin daughters and sister Chennamma were living in the 'kutcha' house in
the village. The three injured were taken to a hospital, where they are
undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, search
operations are continuing in Shirur village in Uttara Kannada to trace three
people, including a lorry driver from Kerala, who are missing after a massive
landslide.
One more body was
recovered on Friday, taking the toll in the 16 July landslide to seven. When
asked about the missing lorry driver from Kerala -- Arjun from Kozhikode,
Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada Lakshmi Priya K said: "We are unable
to locate the lorry yet both inside the river as well as on the landslide site;
it is not seen yet. We are doing the restoration work."
According to
Arjun's family, his lorry is suspected to be trapped under the debris and his
phone rang twice but there was no response.
Kerala Chief Minister
Pinarayi Vijayan has directed Chief Secretary Dr V Venu to take necessary
