A Kannada news channel anchor who was absconding for over three days was arrested in Kerala by Jeevan Bhima Nagar police on Thursday. Divya Vasantha is one of the accused in an extortion case.

On 1 July , owner of ‘Tree Spa and Beauty Parlour, filed a complaint alleging attempted extortion by the Rajanukunte Venkatesh, claiming to be CEO of Raj News Channel, Divya Vasantha and her brother Sandesh Vasantha.  The police said, “We arrested two of the accused after we received fabricated video of our complaint and the audio file of the accused threatening the spa owner to pay Rs 8 lakh.”

Speaking to Salar News, Jeevan Bhima Nagar police said, “We arrested Divya Vasantha during the early hours of Thursday after receiving the tip off of her residing in Kerala and currently produced her for interrogation regarding the case.”

The police investigations revealed Venkatesh and accomplices had formed a WhatsApp group named ‘Spy Research Team’ to strategise on extortion methods.  Divya Vasantha, previously associated with another private news channel, joined Venkatesh's group about six months ago. -Salar News
