BENGALURU, 11 JULY
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is preparing to
launch its longest-run daily bus services, connecting Bengaluru with Ahmedabad
in Gujarat and Puri in Odisha.
These European-style
air-conditioned sleeper buses will cover a distance of 1,500km.
Speaking to Salar News, V
Anbukumar, Managing Director of KSRTC said, “We have taken permission from the
states through which these buses will pass. We will soon meet about the service
with the other state transport department. These buses will pass through
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Gujarat.”
With these services, the KSRTC
aims to meet a significant demand for long-distance buses from Bengaluru and
provide KSRTC’s reliable services and extensive fleet of Volvo buses. KSRTC’s
longest routes are from Bengaluru to Mumbai and Shirdi, each approximately
1,000 km long.
The decision to expand the KSRTC
services to other north Indian states is to analyse the experience and profits
of the state transport department. —Salar
