Police bust fake currency racket in Belagavi, 6 held

The Gokak police have busted a gang
involved in the printing and circulation of counterfeit Indian currency notes
within the district. In a cinematic heist plot they apprehended six
individuals, seizing a total of 6,792 counterfeit notes in denominations of Rs
100 and Rs 500. The arrested individuals are Anwar Muhammad, Salim Yadawad from
Arabhavi, Mudalagi taluk, Saddam Musa
Yadahalli from Mahalingapur, Ravi Channappa Hagadi, Dundappa Mahadeva
Onashenavi and Vitthala Hanumanta Hosakoti.
During interrogation, the accused
confessed to exchanging Rs 6 lakh of fake currency for Rs 1 lakh in genuine
notes. The police have seized items worth around Rs 5,23,900 in connection with
this case. The counterfeit notes were printed and distributed from a house in
Arabhavi village of Mudalagi taluk. The investigation revealed that these fake
notes were circulated in multiple locations, including Mudhola, Mahalingapur,
Gokak, Hidal, Belgavi, and Dharwad.
District Superintendent of Police
Bhima Shankar Guleda said, " The items used by the accused in the printing
process, including a computer, CPU, printer, screening board, paint, shining
stickers, decoying powder, printing paper, cutter blades, six mobile phones,
and a white car worth Rs 5,23,900, have been confiscated." He urged the
victims of the counterfeit operation to come forward and file complaints. Salar
