BENGALURU, 26 JUNE
The State police launched an app called ‘Drug-free Karnataka’ to mark the International Day
against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. This app is now open to the public
to report any drug peddling activities in the City. Through this app, the police
can track the complainant's area.
The Karnataka police also destroyed
Rs 42 crore and 1.5 tonnes worth of drugs on Wednesday (namely marijuana
and cocaine). Speaking at the event held in Kanteerava stadium G Parameshwara
said, “The youth of the country are being destroyed because of drugs. When the
country’s youth are destroyed the whole nation is destroyed. If youths are
using drugs lavishly then we don't need to have an atom bomb to destroy the
nation.”
At least 4,000 students from different colleges came together to create awareness campaign on drug abuse in the City. With the theme of ‘Evidence is clear; invest in prevention’ in February the police destroyed Rs 36 crore worth of drugs.
