BIDAR, 25 JUNE
Zameer Ahmed Khan again sparked a controversy by saying that Eshwar
Khandre’s son, Sagar Khandre, won Lok Sabha Elections 2024 primarily due to
Muslim votes. He was attending a meeting at the Waqf Adalat in Bidar
on Monday.
Speaking in Hindi, Zameer said, "Sirf aur sirf Muslim vote se Sagar
Khandre jeete so hai. Hamara kaam jhuk marke karna padta hai" (Sagar
Khandre won only with Muslim votes. He should do our work with his head bowed)." Khan said that Eswar should prioritise the needs of the Muslims.
The controversial remarks also triggered a strong reaction from
Opposition BJP leaders. They have condemned Khan’s statement, accusing him of
divisive politics and undermining the democratic process. BJP leaders R Ashok,
Basanagowda Patil, CT Ravi, and others have expressed their outrage.
BJP MLA Basan Gowda Patil Yatnal criticised Khan through a tweet,
referencing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s concerns about the constitution
being in danger. Yatnal argued that Khan's comments and actions, such as the
proposal to transfer forest land to Waqf, exemplify the divisive policies
threatening the Constitution.
During the recent Telangana elections, he faced backlash for campaigning
heavily for Congress candidates and suggesting that BJP MLAs should show
deference to the Speaker. -Salar News
