Bengaluru, 24 June
Parappana Agrahara Central Prison
has beefed up security on Monday as it now houses three high-profile
individuals — Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, ex-MP Prajwal Revanna and JD(S) MLC
Suraj Revanna.
The trio is being held in a
separate high-security room and is not allowed to interact with other
prisoners.
Darshan was arrested along with 16
others in the Renukaswamy murder and has been in police custody since 11 June.
Meanwhile, Prajwal and his brother Suraj are facing sexual abuse allegations.
Sources within the jail confirmed
that Darshan and his associates - Pradush, Vinay, and Dhanraj - are housed in
one of the six special security rooms. These rooms are distinct from those
holding the general prison population.
“These rooms are out of bounds for
ordinary prisoners. Only security guards are allowed here,” a police official
said.
The high-security room provided to
Darshan reportedly has an attached bathroom but offers no other luxuries. Basic
amenities include a bed, bed sheet, and daily newspapers.
The prison has six such rooms, and
five of them house accused arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
All those accused in the
Renukaswamy murder case are under constant surveillance, with police personnel
present even during visits. -Salar News
