BENGALURU, 22 JUNE

The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) is helping young people from the state find jobs abroad. Recently, a batch of 94 candidates with qualifications like BE, diploma, and ITI departed for Slovakia. The KSDC provided comprehensive support to the candidates, including training relevant to their qualifications, visa processing, document verification, and arranging food and accommodation. These placements are a result of an initiative by Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, the Skill Development, Livelihood & Medical Education Minister

.

Minister Patil played a key role in securing an agreement with the Ministry of External Affairs after learning about Slovakia's need for over 2,500 assembly line operators from Karnataka. Following this agreement, the department recruited eligible candidates, and the first two batches of 94 (including 54 ITI and 31 diploma holders) left for Slovakia on 5 June and 20th, with more batches scheduled for 24 June and 1 July. The recruited candidates received free training at the Toyota Kirloskar unit in Bidadi. Recognizing the economic constraints of many candidates, Dr. Patil ensured the department covered the training costs, which would have otherwise amounted to Rs. 35,000 per person.

At a send-off ceremony, Dr. Patil distributed flight tickets and announced that each candidate would receive a monthly salary of 970 euros (approximately Rs. 86,000). The KSDC is also facilitating job placements for 37 drivers in Hungary and exploring opportunities for welders in Mauritius. Recruitment for other technician and blue-collar jobs is ongoing. M Kanagavalli, the KSDC MD, stated their efforts to meet the human resource demands of countries like Australia, Japan, Germany, Finland. Recognizing this, the KSDC plans to introduce English language training programs at their skill training centers soon. This initiative will further equip candidates to compete for international job opportunities.
