Eminent Kannada
literatteur 'Nadoja' Kamala Hampana died at her Rajaji Nagar residence on
Saturday due to age-related diseases. Hampana was 88.
She was born on 28
October, 1935, in Devanahalli near Bengaluru. She started her career as a
teacher and gradually made a name in the field of literature. She was an
academician, researcher, and writer too.
She had a career
spanning 60 years and a published over 60 books in Kannada across different
genres. She also authored two books in English, ‘Attimabbe and Chalukyas’ and
‘Jainism and other essays’.
Hampana had won
Karnataka Sahitya Aademy Award, Daana Chintamani Attimabbe Award and the
Rajyotsava award from the Karnataka Government. As per the veteran's wish, her
body will be donated to Ramaiah medical college for medical research.
Many prominent
officials including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed their condolences to
