Hebbalu village offers Rs 1L reward to end fly menace

Hebbalu, a village known for its educated population and prosperous farms, is
facing a persistent problem – flies. Every monsoon season, the village endures
a severe fly infestation for months, causing immense distress to residents.
This year, frustrated by the flies
causing illness and economic hardship, the villagers have announced a reward of
Rs 1 lakh for anyone who can solve the problem.
The problem started in 2014 and the
source of the flies is believed to be the numerous chicken farms operating near
Hebbalu for decades. The village is located adjacent to Pune-Bangalore National
Highway in Davangere. Villagers allege the farm owners, mostly from Andhra
Pradesh, are influential and refuse to follow a proper waste management
practices.
Despite appeals to local
authorities over the years, no effective action has been taken.
With the onset of the rainy season,
the situation in Hebbalu has become unbearable once again. The constant presence of flies has led to widespread illness among residents,
impacting their health, livelihood, and overall well-being.
Deputy Commissioner MV Venkatesh
has assured the community that a meeting will be held to address the issue.
Villagers urge the district administration to take serious action and implement
a lasting solution. -Salar News
