Taluks to be allotted Rs 1L to celebrate Kempegowda Jayanti

Rs 1 lakh will be provided to Constituency Education Officers to organise seminars about Kempegowda for students across the state

Bengaluru, 18 June


State government will allot Rs 1 lakh to every taluk in State to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bengaluru founder Kempegowda on 27 June, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said on Tuesday.  


“An action plan has been prepared to develop Kempegowda's fort and burial place in Devanahalli to transform them into tourist destinations. Ten acres was allotted for developing Kempegowda's birthplace in Devanahalli and five acres was designated for setting up a Kempegowda Authority office at Summanahalli, with a foundation ceremony planned on Jayanti,” Shivakumar said.  


Additionally, Rs 1 lakh will be provided to Constituency Education Officers to organise seminars about Kempegowda for students across the state.” Debates on Kempegowda will be organised for school children, with Rs 20,000 allocated for cultural events at taluks, he said. District centres will receive Rs 50,000, with considerations for additional funding.


The 515th Jayanthotsav of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda is scheduled at Palace Grounds on 27 June and processions will held in various parts of Bengaluru, including Huliyurdurga, Magadi, and Avathi. —Salar News
