South Western Railways introduce special trains for LS polls

Train No. 06553 will depart from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru, at 6pm on 25 April and arrive at Mangaluru Central at 10am on Election Day on Friday

BENGALURU, 24 APRIL 

 

South Western Railways introduced two special trains to operate from Bengaluru to Mangaluru and Yeshwanthpur to Kundapura. 

 

Train No. 06553 will depart from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru, at 6pm on 25 April and arrive at Mangaluru Central at 10am on Election Day on Friday. In the return direction, Train No. 06554 will depart from Mangaluru Central at noon on 26 April and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 3am the following day.

 

The train will make stops at Krishnarajapuram, Bangarpet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur and Kasaragod.


Having a total of 22 coaches, the trains consist of one 2-tier AC, four 3-tier AC, eight sleeper, four general class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

 

Yeshwantpur-Kundapura Special will depart from Yeshwantpur at 11:20pm on 25 April and reach Kundapura at 10:45am the next day, with stops at Nelamangala, Kunigal, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, Kabakaputtur, Bantwal, Surathkal, Mulki, Udupi and Barkur stations. Train No. 06548 will depart from Kundapura at 11:20am on 26 April and reach Yeshwantpur at 9:50pm the same day, with stops at Barkur, Udupi, Mulki, Surathkal, Mangaluru Junction, Bantawala, Kabakaputtur, Subrahmanya Road, Sakleshpur, Hassan and Kunigal stations.
