BENGALURU, 8 MARCH

A Bengaluru native was among two Indians who lost their lives in a fire that engulfed a residential building in Sharjah's Al Nahda area in UAE on Thursday night.

Michael Sathyadass, 47, a resident of Kothanur here in the City and alumnus of Clarence High School, who was an employee of DXB Live at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), was one of the two Indians who succumbed to the tragedy. According to his brother Danny Sathyadass's Facebook post, Michael was a sound engineer who had contributed to concerts featuring renowned artists such as Bruno Mars and AR Rahman in his career.

“Michael chose to be backstage and behind the scenes, literally and figuratively to ensure that others shine and sound better. Appreciate your prayers as the company he worked for, coordinates details with government authorities to obtain the body,” Danny's post read. “It is a shocking and difficult time for the family to lose Michael in this tragedy’’ his brother Sathyadass told Salar News.

Dubai World Trade Centre in a statement said, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague Michael John Sathyadass, a distinguished senior sound engineer in our DXB Live Division. Tragically Micheal’s life was cut short on Friday due to a fire at his residence.”

Consulate General of India, Dubai in a statement said: “We are in touch with the families of the deceased and have extended all necessary support. Salar News
