Chamarajanagar, 8 April

Tensions flared in Mallupura gram panchayat of Nanjangudu taluk as Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, faced the ire of villagers during his campaign for Congress candidate Sunil Bose in Chamarajanagar.

The incident occurred amid farmers from three villages of Siddaramaiah's hometown staging protest against Bannari Amman sugar factory, demanding their grievances be addressed.

The farmers warned of boycotting the elections in three villages if their demands remained unmet. The tension escalated when Yathindra arrived at the scene after campaigning in Mallupura village panchayat of Nanjangudu taluk.

He was accused of opportunisms and said he is merely seeking votes without addressing their grievances. The protesters rebuked him, questioning why the issues had not been raised with his father. Yathindra opted to withdraw from the confrontation, leaving the scene without making headway with the protesters. Salar News
