BJP leader KS Eshwarappa, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Shivamogga seat, has filed a caveat petition in District Court. He requested the court to ensure no ex-parte order is passed if Shivamogga district BJP moves court seeking an order restricting him from using the portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Lok Sabha election campaign.

There is a war of words between BJP's Shivamogga candidate BY Raghavendra, son of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa, and Eshwarappa. Raghavendra had ridiculed Eshwarappa for using Modi's photos during the campaigning. Eshwarappa responded to it, saying Modi is not the property of Raghavendra's father.

Eshwarappa is upset with the BJP's decision to deny a ticket to his son KE Kanthesh to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Haveri seat. Eshwarappa has said Yediyurappa had betrayed him and vowed to get BY Vijayendra, another son of Yediyurappa, removed from the post of State BJP chief.

Eshwarappa had announced that he will file his nomination on 12 April. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had personally spoken to him over the phone during his visit to Bengaluru. —Salar News
