BENGALURU, 4 MARCH

Department of Health and Family Welfare Department issued a public health advisory due to State's rising temperatures. The advisory urges people, especially vulnerable sections, to exercise caution as the hot weather is expected to persist for several days.

The department advised people to stay hydrated by consuming sufficient fluids. It emphasised extra caution for vulnerable groups such as infants, pregnant women, individuals with mental or physical health conditions and the elderly. The advisory recommends covering heads from direct sunlight and using oral rehydration solutions (ORS) to prevent dehydration.

The scorching temperatures come amid a severe drought impacting the State. Many areas in Bengaluru are going dry and many parts of the City are facing water scarcity. Depleted borewells have forced residents to rely on water tankers, leading to allegations of price gouging.

Residents report that the cost of a 1,000-litre water tanker has surged from Rs 600 - Rs 800 to over Rs 2,000. -Salar News
