A BJP worker and a close associate
of BJP MP Umesh Jadhav was hacked to death in Kalaburagi, police said on
Friday.
Girish Chakra was killed after
being invited to a felicitation party by friends at a farmhouse late at
Sanganura village near Afzalpura taluk on Thursday night. The attackers threw
chilli powder into his eyes before hacking him to death, according to the
police.
Chakra was recently appointed as
the Director of BSNL Advisory Committee by Jadhav. The victim’s brother,
Sadashiva Chakra, said the murder is due to the inability of a few people who
cannot tolerate Girish’s progress in politics. He claimed that some of the
community leaders were also involved in the murder.
“They must have hired Supari
killers to kill my brother. The killers felicitated my brother before killing
him. I will reveal the names of those who hired the killers to the police,”
Chakra said.
However, this incident took a
political turn after BJP attacked District-in-charge Minister Priyank Kharge.
After “Troll Minister Priyank Kharge” came to power, the murders and extortions
are happening in the district, BJP said on X platform. BJP urged Chief Minister
Siddaramaiah to sack Kharge for ruining law and order in Kalaburagi.
