Karnataka to slash power tariff from 1 March

This rule applies only to people consuming more than 100 units of electricity per month

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on Wednesday announced a reduction in power tariffs effective from 1 March 2024. As per the new order, the consumers will see a reduction of 10 paise per unit.

 

However, this rule applies only to people consuming more than 100 units of electricity per month. For Low Tension (LT) domestic lighting consumers energy charges are reduced by 110 paise.

 

For High Tension (HT) commercial consumers will get a rebate of Rs 125 paise per unit.

 

In the case of HT Hospital & Educational Institutions: Energy charges were reduced by 40 paise per unit; Demand Charges were reduced by Rs 10 per Kilo Vault Amperes. For HT residential apartments demand charges are reduced by Rs 10 per KVA.

 

Special Incentive Scheme is continued for the financial year 2024- 25, with a change in the rate of incentive from Rs 2 per unit to Re 1 per unit for night consumption. The other terms and conditions remain the same.

 

Along with that, KERC has decided to encourage the use of electric vehicles and the Energy charges for electric vehicle charging stations have been continued at a reduced rate of Rs.4.50 per unit. In the new edition of the tariff hike, the urban and rural categories were merged into one category in the previous order. The rebate of 30 paise per unit is allowed only for LT commercial, LT Industries, LT pvt hospitals & educational institutions in village panchayat areas.

 

A green tariff of 50 paise per unit over and above the applicable tariff applicable to HT industries and HT commercial is continued. Salar News
