Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the State government is to amend the
anti-farmer Land Reforms Act 2020 introduced by BJP government.
Addressing a farmers' convention at Freedom Park on Prof Nanjundaswamy's
88th birth anniversary, Siddaramaiah assured serious consideration of farmers'
demands, including a pro-farmer budget.
Siddaramaiah slammed the Central government for the 10-year rule of
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP, referring to it as "Vinaash
Kaal" (destructive period) rather than "Amrut Kaal" (golden
period).
He said, “During this time, farmers, workers, women, and common people
have suffered greatly, with their problems significantly." Siddaramaiah
said none of the promises made by Modi to the people have been fully solved.
Despite pledges such as doubling farmers' income, creating 2 crore jobs
annually for youth, ensuring women's safety, providing employment guarantees,
and offering essential commodities at affordable rates, Siddaramaiah noted that
Modi has failed to deliver on these commitments.”
He accused Modi of focusing on religious and emotive issues and
appeasing industrialists after winning elections. Siddaramaiah labelled the
last decade of Modi's rule as "Anyaay Kaal" (period of injustice).
