Mumbai, 7 April
Jasprit Bumrah returned to active net sessions for
the first time since January this year. With Mumbai Indians batting coach
Kieron Pollard carrying him on his shoulders, the pacer rolled up his arm to
bowl left-arm spin and trouble the batsmen.
Bumrah's availability for the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore was confirmed by the head coach Mahela Jayawardene on 6 April. Mumbai Indians will be back with their leader, while the national team can hope to have Bumrah with them on the England tour in June.
He is keen to test his fitness levels in the IPL and the powers that be will also be keeping an eye on his workload in the next few weeks. After mimicking fellow and left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, Bumrah bowled two separate spells, which also included a break in which he interacted with teammates and coaches.
He bowled without any trouble and fans can
expect to see him bowling at full strength against star batsman Virat Kohli at
the Wankhede. However, Kohli remained absent from the RCB nets and rest
assured, the master batsman will be ready for the big clash on 7 April.
