BENAGLURU, 15 MARCH
It has been almost two months since
a four-year-old girl died after falling from the third floor of a preschool at
Chellikere here, but the forensic report of the incident is still not out in
the open.
“Does it take two months for a
report to be handed over? My daughter was murdered in the school and it is not
an accident,” Jito Tomy Joseph, the father of Gianna Ann Jito, told Salar News.
“I appeal to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara to
order a probe by Criminal Investigation Department into the death as I have
lost faith in the police investigation.’’
The parents claim the CCTV footage
was doctored. “A person went to the school the day after my daughter died and
fiddled with the visuals. No police official is coming forward to tell us what
the forensic report is all about or where the investigation is headed. Who do
we approach and how do we get justice for our daughter who died for no fault of
hers? Which child would venture onto the terrace of the school and jump to
death?”
Gianna’s parents Joseph and his
wife Binitta Thomas used to work as software professionals in Bengaluru but
they left the City and moved to their hometown, Kerala, for good after the
tragedy. They say they will cooperate with the police and visit the City
whenever needed.
The parents have started a campaign
titled ‘Justice for Gianna’ on Instagram and Facebook pages, which has a large
number of people expressing their anguish at police and their delayed
investigation.
Joseph said he has been running
from pillar to post to get justice for his daughter. “Our lives have turned
upside down with the loss of Gianna and it is not going to be the same anymore.
All we ask for is justice for her death and nothing else.’’
Gianna fell from the third floor of
Delhi Preschool in Hennur police station limits on 22 January. Following a
complaint filed by the girl's father, Hennur police have registered an FIR
against the school authorities for negligence. The girl was taken to a hospital
with severe injuries to her head and other parts of her body. Despite efforts
to save her, Gianna died after a four-day battle for her life.
Hennur police inspector and investigating officer in the case, Deepak L, was not available for comment on the issue when contacted by Salar News.
