NEW DELHI, 1 SEPT
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were hiked by 5.46 per cent on Tuesday, while the price of commercial LPG, used by hotels, was raised by Rs 9.50 per 19-kg cylinder, in line with a rise in their international benchmarks.
The price of ATF has been raised by Rs 6.28 per litre, or 5.46 per cent, to Rs 121.28 per litre for domestic airlines.
The government also hiked the windfall gains tax on exports of petrol and diesel, and reduced it marginally on ATF for the next fortnight.
The rate of special additional excise duty (SAED) along with road and infrastructure cess on the export of diesel now stands at Rs 25 per litre, up from Rs 24 a litre. SAED on exports of ATF has been set at Rs 19 per litre, compared to Rs 19.5 per litre earlier.
The duty on petrol exports has been hiked to Rs 1.5 per litre from 1 September, up from zero.
The Finance Ministry said the duty hikes will be effective from 1 September.
Commercial LPG prices have increased from Rs 2,738 per 19-kg cylinder to Rs 2,747.50. The price of the 5-kg market-priced cooking gas LPG cylinder, called 5-kg FTL, has also been increased from Rs 762 to Rs 764.
Rates of domestic LPG used in household kitchens remain unchanged at Rs 942 per 14.2-kg cylinder.
In Mumbai, the Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) raised the price of CNG by Rs 2 per kg, citing a sharp increase in input costs due to the crisis in West Asia.
The CNG price in and around Mumbai will be Rs 88 per kg, the gas distributor said.
The hike follows Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) hiking CNG price in Delhi by Rs 3.89 per kg to Rs 86.98 per kg, from Rs 83.09 per kg earlier. The increase took the cumulative rise in Delhi CNG prices this year to nearly Rs 10 per kg.
MGL has also increased the price of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) by Rs 1 per standard cubic metre (SCM). — PTI
