SIT formed to probe parties in prisons
SIT to inspect Kalaburagi jail after videos and allegations of gambling and bribery surface.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe allegations of illegal activities at the Central Prison in Kalaburagi, including gambling, consumption of alcohol and cigarettes, and other unlawful practices.
The team, headed by Additional Inspector General PV Anandareddy, will be visiting the prison on 2 January to conduct inspections and question officials and staff allegedly involved.
Director General (DG) of Prisons Alok Kumar is also scheduled to visit the prison on 3 January as part of the investigation. The DG visit follows reports of gambling and viral videos showing inmates leading high-profile lifestyles inside Kalaburagi Central Prison.
The investigation also addresses a bribery scandal involving RD Patil, the kingpin of the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam, and Prison Superintendent Anita, after both parties traded allegations of corruption and misconduct.
Officials have said that the viral video is not recent, believing it to be two to three months old. This was confirmed by the fact that Munikrishna, alias Kappe the inmate seen gambling in the viral footage was released from prison on 2 December 2025.
