Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumarover the niqab incident, saying the latter may be revealing his “true colours”.

Nitish Kumar, who was once seen as a secular leader, may now be slowly showing his true nature,” Abdullah told reporters on the sidelines of a function here. The J-K chief minister said Kumar’s act of removing the face veil of a Muslim woman doctor was wrong and could not be justified under any circumstances.

We have seen such incidents here as well. Have you forgotten how Mehbooba Mufti once removed the burqa of a legitimate voter inside a polling station? "That act was wrong, and this act is also wrong,” Abdullah said.

He added that if the 'Bihar chief minister' did not wish to hand over the order to the woman, she could have been asked to step aside.

"To humiliate her in this manner is completely wrong,” he said.

Kumar triggered a controversy earlier this week after he removed the face veil of a Muslim woman during a public function, drawing sharp criticism from opposition leaders.
