Dalai Lama arrives in Karnataka’s Mungod
The Tibetan leader will proceed to Mungod after an overnight halt in Delhi, where major monastic institutions host thousands of refugees.

Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama left Dharamshala on Thursday morning for Mungod, with Tibetans and foreign devotees seeing him off at Kangra Airport. Speaking to media persons at Kangra Airport, the Dalai Lama said, "Wherever I go Indian public really showing the genuine compassion and we truly spiritual... thank you."
Mungod hosts several Tibetan refugees, including the Drepung Loseling Monastery and Gaden Jangtse Monastic College. The Dalai Lama will stay in Delhi overnight before proceeding to Mungod on Friday. He is expected to return to Dharamshala in February 2026.
The Tibetan government in exile marked the 36th anniversary of the Dalai Lama’s Nobel Peace Prize and the 77th World Human Rights Day. Around 2,000 Tibetans gathered at Thekchen Choeling Tsuglakhang in Dharamshala. The event featured official statements from foreign delegates and Tibetan leaders, as well as cultural performances. Sikyong Penpa Tsering, head of the Tibetan government in exile, paid tribute to the Dalai Lama and extended greetings to global supporters of Tibet.
