Hyderabad airport on alert after 2 int'l flights get bomb threat
British Airways flight lands safely; Kuwait Airways jet turns back as bomb threat emails spike

Two international flights bound for Hyderabad received bomb threat emails on
the airport’s customer support ID, Hyderabad Airport GMR said on Saturday.
British
Airways flight BA 277 from Heathrow landed safely in Hyderabad at 5.25am, after
which standard safety protocols were initiated. Kuwait Airways flight KU 373,
travelling from Kuwait to Hyderabad, returned to its departure airport
following the threat.
Earlier,
Air India flight AI 2879 from Delhi to Hyderabad also received a bomb threat
email on the same customer support ID. The aircraft landed safely at 8.45pm on
Friday and underwent full security checks.
On
Thursday, Emirates flight EK 526 from Dubai to Hyderabad received a similar
threat. The aircraft continued under heightened monitoring and landed safely at
8.30am. Security teams moved the plane to an isolated bay and deboarded
passengers as per procedure.
The
latest alerts follow a week of repeated threats to flights headed to Hyderabad.
An IndiGo flight from Medina to Hyderabad was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday
due to a threat, while another Kuwait–Hyderabad IndiGo service made anemergency landing in Mumbai earlier this week.
Airport
authorities and security agencies are investigating the source of the emails
amid the surge in threat messages.
