Chennai, 18 Nov

As technical snag hit Cloudflare, users across the globe faced yet another multi-platform outage on Tuesday.

Several applications, social media platforms in particular like X and Facebook, were down for netizens. As of 5.15pm, Downdetector, a website that tracks outage, had at least 11,500 reports from users who couldn't access these apps.

The outage was also faced by people using ChatGPT, Open AI, Letterboxd, Perplexity, Gemini and Spotify.

Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) faced major disruptions, with netizens around the globe affected by core functions like logging in, loading new posts and accessing the app itself.

Cloudflare is a company that provides security and traffic management for websites and acts like a protective shield for thousands of online servers.

Hence though there have been no statement from X or other platforms, the outage is being credited to Cloudfare issues.

This comes weeks after the major outage faced by Amazon’s cloud division Amazon Web Services (AWS) on 20 Oct.

Applications including Robinhood, Snapchat, Venmo, Prime Video, Canva and Perplexity AI experienced disruptions due to issue originating from AWS, which powers a large portion of internet’s backend infrastructure, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector.
