NEW DELHI, 26 JULY
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Kerala chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has accused Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi of involvement in land grabbing in the State. At a press briefing, Chandrasekhar claimed that Kharge's entire family has been engaged in land acquisition scandals for "years and decades".
Chandrasekhar stated that these allegations come in the wake of Rahul Kharge, son of Mallikarjun Kharge, withdrawing requests for land allotment in Bengaluru amid ongoing scrutiny over similar accusations.
The BJP Chief's comments followed Mallikarjun Kharge’s accusations against the RSS and BJP of spreading division during a recent event focused on OBC rights. Chandrasekhar said that the Congress party's handling of land issues exemplifies deeper corruption in states governed by them, stating, "Rahul Gandhi's words are a cover for Congress' real objectives, which are corruption and chaos…. He completely recycles all of his issues every few days. When one thing fails, he raises another issue, and it goes on... He is not a politician with any strong views or beliefs. Congress has governments in three states (Telangana, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka) and nowhere is it implementing what it talks about”.
