PATNA, 17 JULY
A murder convict out on parole was shot dead by five gunmen
inside the ICU of the paras Hospital in Bihar's Patna on Thursday.
The deceased, Chandan, a resident of Buxar, was convicted in
a murder case. He was a prisoner at Beur Jail and had gone to the hospital for
treatment on parole.
The Congress released CCTV footage of the hospital showing
the four assailants entering the ICU, shooting Chandan in broad daylight and
rushing out.
The party slammed the Nitish Kumar government overlawlessness, terming it “Bihar’s goon rule.”
The man was then admitted to the ICU of the hospital, where
he succumbed to his injuries.
A case was registered and the police launched a manhunt to
nab the accused.
Prima facie, it appears that old rivalry might be the reason
behind the murder, police sources said.
Independent Lok Sabha MP from Purnea, Rajesh Ranjan alias
Pappu Yadav, also alleged that the shooting has completely exposed the Nitish
Kumar government.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav visited the hospital but was not
allowed to enter the facility by the security guards deployed there.
In another incident, a person was killed by some people
outside his house in Patna's Shahpur on Thursday.
The deceased is Shubham alias Bunty.
