Andaman Lt Governor hikes minimum wages for all category of workers
The revised wage rates are applicable from 1 July, 2025.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lt Governor and Vice Chairman of
Islands Development Agency (IDA) Admiral DK Joshi, (Retd) has revised the
minimum rates of wages of workers in all the categories, an official statement
said.
The
revised wage rates are applicable from 1 July, 2025.
As
per the revised worker wages, the daily wage of unskilled workers will now be
Rs 647 (Rs 19,410 approx per month), semi-skilled or unskilled supervisory
category will get Rs 728 per day (Rs 21,840 approx per month), skilled or
clerical Rs 851 per day (Rs 25,530 approx per month) and highly skilled worker
will get Rs 934 per day (Rs 28,020 approx per month), a statement issued by Raj
Niwas said.
"The
wages were revised across all six schedules of employment in addition to
government departments, offices, industrial establishments as mandated under
the provisions of Minimum Wages Act, 1948 in the UT of Andaman and Nicobar
Islands w.e.f. 1st July, 2025," the statement said.
A
senior official at the Union Territory Labour department said, "One can
download the order copy of revised rates of minimum wages from
www.labour.and.nic.in. All employers of the establishments have been requested
to comply with the revised rates, failing which, punitive action as per the provisions
of Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and its Rules made thereunder shall be
initiated."
Last
year also, the Lieutenant Governor hiked the minimum wage and then it was
affected from 1 July, 2024. As per the previous circular, the minimum wage per
day for unskilled worker was Rs 633 per day, semi-skilled or unskilled
supervisory used to get Rs 714 per day, the skilled or clerical staff used to
get Rs 837 per day and highly skilled workers used to get Rs 920 per day.
The
decision to increase the minimum wage was taken considering the financial
stability of the workers, an official said.
