Mumbai, 8 April

Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 8 April. Jadhav, 39, who announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in June 2024, joined the ruling party in the presence of state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule and other leaders.

"He will tour the state and meet the youth. He will help strengthen the BJP's sports wing in Maharashtra," Bawankule said. There was no official statement on what role or responsibility Jadhav would be given in the party.

Jadhav represented India in 73 ODIs and nine T20Is since his international debut in 2014. In 2012, he scored a Ranji Trophy triple century for Maharashtra against Uttar Pradesh, becoming the second-highest run-scorer.
